The Best Day!

Yesterday was an awesome day!

I hardly slept at all because I was so excited, really, really excited for our first ultrasound. Of course, they ask for the date of your LMP so they could date the baby, but I knew that date would be wrong. According to my CD1, I should have been 9 weeks and 5 days. Given that, the tech tried finding Baby R through the abdomen. I kind of joked saying there is no way we'll see the baby, but you could (a little)! A little flutter right off the bat! BIG SMILE! But, we went the other route to get a better view. The tech was cruel, making us wait to see our baby by taking measurements of my ovaries first! I quickly forgave her though because what we saw next was amazing!

My baby! Measuring 6 weeks and 2 days with a beautiful heartbeat of 123 beats per minute. My baby! Our baby! With such a strong heart! It must be growing strong from all the love we've been giving to him/her!

Yesterday was the best day! After we left, we went out to lunch and the texting began! We were both on our phones, talking loudly due to excitement. It was the first day that I thought "things are going to be okay." The first day I did not have any worries about losing my baby. The first day I felt that we are, truly, going to have a baby, our baby. I don't remember the last time I felt this content and at peace.

I have to be referred to a high risk doctor due to my diabetes. I have always known that would happen "if" we ever made it far enough. I'm looking forward to that visit, which the office should call me by Friday to schedule that appointment. At first, my visits will be "normal" as in once a month until 20 weeks or so, and then they'll get bumped up more. I realized that with our due date of January 2nd, I'll be pregnant for the rest of the year! To me, that just sounds funny...I'll be pregnant from Easter until Christmas and beyond! This just makes me laugh, mostly because I still can't believe this is happening to me. How grateful I am! Thank you, Jesus, for showing Your mercy upon me!
